Ultra Violette sunscreen review, Pt. 2

Welcome to Part 2 of my Ultra Violette sunscreen review. In Part 1, I reviewed the Queen Screen Lightweight SPF50+ Serum  Sunscreen and the Sheen Screen SPF30 Hydrating Lip Balm. In this post I will be giving you a quick update on these and also review their other offerings. If you haven’t read Part 1 or just need…

Hi, I'm Sanida!

As promised I will be talking about each product I As promised I will be talking about each product I already own and review it based on performance and brand ethics. So here are two deodorants that I recently finished up.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
@corpusnaturals is a US brand that is sold at @meccacosmetica. I can't fault the product itself and it works really well as a deodorant and the Santalum scent is lovely.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
@corpusnaturals themselves have a huge focus on the environment and the terms "clean" and "toxic" feature in their copy (which I find incredibly off-putting). They seem to be doing a good job of making the products and packaging sustainable but nowhere is there a mention of diversity, inclusivity and ethics from a human perspective. Their Instagram feed is product centric and there are not many people featured.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They posted a black square and follow up posts including a statement that in their short history they have amplified black voices and faces from day one. I have looked on their IG and website and I personally don't see this in action. They did not respond to @pullupforchange when asked to. As a result, I won't be repurchasing it and also because I am boycotting @meccacosmetica for their lack of action and diversity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
@apha.lab gifted me their Cactus & Clay deodorant and like the Corpus Naturals one, it works really well. The brand posted on 2nd June on their feed with the hashtag #amplifymelanatedvoices. I have not seen anything else from the brand since on the subject of BLM.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I like that they have an acknowledgment of Traditonal Land Owners on their website and they have used a model with Maori heritage in their marketing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Apha.Lab is a one woman brand but despite this I think there is always an opportunity to share resources, donate, improve the diversity of visuals and work with Black and Indigenous Australian content creators. I hope to see the brand work on this from here on in.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have one more @apha.lab deodorant to finish and after that, I'm not sure what I will try next. Any suggestions?
@ketahlibeauty is a 100% Indigenous owned brand an @ketahlibeauty is a 100% Indigenous owned brand and from what I can tell, located in Perth just like me. 🥳 I ordered the Cleansing Gel and have been using it for about a week. It's early days but I already love it (I have a soft spot for gel cleansers) and it reminds me of the Fitglow Detox cleanser I always rave about. I'm happy to have found its replacement!

I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the range when it's back in stock and also seeing the launch of Ketahli haircare products soon.

I also want to take this moment to remind you all that the fight against racism is never over and to please keep educating yourself and others, supporting BIPOC brands and creators, donating if you can and sharing resources.

An unopened but highly anticipated product for me An unopened but highly anticipated product for me to try from @floresboticario. The No. 6 Beauty Primer has rave reviews from some of my most respected humans in the beauty community. I have tried it before but it has been some time since I purchased a set of minis from @floresboticario a couple of years ago. I do remember really liking the primer.

Ale, the founder of this brand, recently made some changes to the pricing of the collection due to the hardships that Covid-19 has caused for people, both financial and emotional. All products are currently under CAD$40.00 based on wholesale vendor prices and shipping to Canada is free. I paid for shipping to Australia.

There is a heartfelt letter on the website which talks about the reasons behind this which I encourage you to read. What I see though the branding and messaging is an inclusive brand on multiple levels. I will go into more detail when I come to review the product and I am really looking forward to diving deeper into the heart of Flores Boticario.

@potraitsbymin chose one of my photos to illustrat @potraitsbymin chose one of my photos to illustrate and I love it so much! Isn't she talented?

This is the @summerfridays lip balm. I really like it but today I wanted to talk about the brand itself and their response to BLM.

Summer Fridays donated to charities @blklivesmatter and @mnfreedomfund, shared anti-racism resources, shared Black owned brands and donated 100% of a weekend's worth of profits to Black Lives Matter. They also participated in @pullupforchange and were transparent when revealing that out of their 12 staff they have no Black employees. It's something they have pledged to work on so I will be checking in on that.

As we are all discovering, every brand has room for improvement but it's good to see them trying and acknowledging that they need to do better. Only time will tell.

Pictured here is the @vescabeauty Kissed-By bronzer which comes in a diverse range of shades. I am still really, really enjoying this buttery powder and happy to support and recommend this brand.

@necessaire The Body Exfoliator in Sandalwood is a @necessaire The Body Exfoliator in Sandalwood is a great every day exfoliant. Not too gritty but just scrubby enough to get a smooth skin finish. It contains Bamboo Charcoal, Pumice, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Lactic Acid and it lathers up as you work it into the skin. It helps to keep my KP bumps under control in a gentle way.

Necessaire donated $10,000.00 to NAACP and have shared some information about their company diversity on their Instagram feed. Currently they do not have any Black employees as their 5th hire who was BIPOC has since left the company to pursue other things. They also acknowledged that their environmental messaging has overshadowed social responsibility and have said they will work on this. I think this is a good thing to think about for all brands that are pushing sustainability and cruelty free messages. Brands should be nice to humans too right?! I acknowledge that they have been showing darker skin tones on their feed since the beginning but I think they could improve the diversity of models and creators they work with.

As this brand has a bit of work to do and is not available in Australia I will not be repurchasing. The forward shipping is a bit too much to justify especially. I do enjoy their products (a lot) but I also look forward to exploring the body ranges of BIPOC brands that are local to me.
