If you love buying beauty presents for Christmas you could visit the usual suspects but today I wanted to present to you a few small businesses that offer something a little more unique. They will also give you those warm fuzzy feels that you get when shopping small. This is for my fellow Perth people and I hope you enjoy it.

Cult Cosmetica

828A Beaufort St, Inglewood WA 6065

Cult Cosmetica is one of my favourite beauty destinations in Perth, hands down. The owner and resident makeup artist is Vicky who brings a wealth of experience to the table and a genuine passion for beauty. The resident skin health expert Ashleigh is a skincare guru and I can attest to the fact that she has magic hands.

While you’re at Cult Cosmetica you can browse brands like FitGlow Beauty, Skin Juice and Serum Factory (favourites of mine), We Are Feel Good Inc, Henne Organics, The Beauty Chef, Pixi Beauty, Lash Food and Medik8. I recently discovered the Mesoestetic brand there that has some wonderful sunscreens for the beach lover in your life. There are plenty of stocking fillers too, from Nails Inc nail polish to sheet masks. If you’re not sure what kind of gift to get, then I can highly recommend a gift voucher to a skin treatment with Ashleigh.

My picks from Cult Cosmetica A gift voucher for the Glam Treatment with Healite II LED or FitGlow Lip Colour Serum Duo.

Vim & Co Pharmacy

Shop 1/154-156 Newcastle St, Perth WA 6000

Stepping into Vim & Co is like walking into a relaxing day spa. It’s a pharmacy with a difference. The focus is on the customer experience and for Christmas, they go all out. Their gift wrapping is stunning so you know that you can get some items ticked off your list, but also walk away with beautifully wrapped presents. I often lose track of time here so make sure you put some extra coin in the machine if you are taking advantage of the 45 min free parking in the building.

There is a multitude of lovely brands to choose from and a lot of handy gift packs. Check out Mr Smith for hair care, Edible Beauty and Orgaid sheet masks, Homeopathic remedies from Alexis Smart and luxurious body care from Real World. Kester Black nail polishes make for great stocking fillers as do The Ordinary serums and The Seeke Balms. There is also a K-beauty section! Gift vouchers are an option if you’re not too sure what to pick. Yen and the team are seriously some of the nicest, most warm and welcoming people I have met since starting Fluke. If you do visit, I think you will love it.

My picks from Vim & Co Pharmacy: Mr Smith gift packs or the EiR body oils.

282 William St, Perth WA 6000

Generics was one of the O.G. indie beauty shops that opened up in Perth and they’re conveniently located in Northbridge. They have their own range of candles, skincare and body care as well as some lovely local and international indie brands. There is the locally made Melis perfume and Clean Slate body care products, Reverie hair care and Mukti Organics which are both top shelf brands that you can’t go wrong with.

The Generics branded vegan candles are available in so many different scents, not to mention they are vegan and last for freaking-ever.

My pick from Generics: A statement Generics candle or a Melis perfume.

Limon Shop

5/226 Oxford St, Leederville WA 6007

Located off the busy Oxford Street strip is a sanctuary for indie and natural beauty lovers alike. Stocking one of my favourite skincare brands, Josh Rosebrook, Limon Shop is neighboured by their health & beauty spa offering natural beauty treatments such as hydro-microdermabrasion, massage and body treatments. Alongside Josh Rosebrook there is INIKA makeup, Rasasara Skinfood, Dr Bronners and locally made Nelumbo Skincare. A really lovely set up and worth a visit if you have an eco-conscious friend or loved one to shop for.

My pick from Limon Shop: Gift voucher for Hydrabrasion or an INIKA Makeup gift pack.

35A Napoleon St, Cottesloe WA 6011

Heartwood is a newcomer one the indie and natural beauty scene in Perth and their store is truly a treat to visit. Alex, the founder and owner, is a warm and welcoming presence in the space and carries with her a passion for health and a particular ingredient quite close to her heart – Sandalwood. There are Heartwood branded facial oils, gorgeous skincare from Ayuna Less is Beauty, Kypris, Alder New York and makeup from Ere Perez.

Heartwood also offer treatments and facials as well as a “make your own” perfume bar. This services comes with a custom formulated perfume and label so that you can print your own special message for a loved one. I think this is such a beautiful touch and personalised presents are always a winner.

My pick from Heartwood: A personalised perfume or a Jane Scrivner skincare set.

I hope you enjoyed my local Christmas guide and I do also hope that you have an opportunity to visit one or more of these lovely local, small businesses! I hope you have a Happy Christmas and New Year!
