If you follow me on Instagram you might already be aware that I am on a no-buy challenge type thing. I had a massive clear out session about a month ago and realised that my beauty cupboards were seriously over flowing with expired product. It made me feel a little queasy seeing all that waste spilling out of my beauty stash so I thought that I would conduct a little challenge for myself.
There are two simple rules.
- Use up all products in a category before repurchasing.
- Treat yo’self once a month with one product or new release.
It has been 4 weeks and I have treated myself more than once. Oops. It didn’t help that Kosas AND Lisa Eldridge decided to launch new things. That means, no treats for the next three months and just focusing on using up what I have. Wish me luck.
In conjunction with this challenge I also wanted to get better at sharing my beauty empties with you and this month I have four to share.
UV-iq Anti-Pollution Facial Sunscreen SPF50+
I used up my second tube of the Australian made UV-iq Anti-Pollution Facial Sunscreen SPF50+. If I had to choose a second favourite, after the Ultra Violette Supreme Screen it would be this one I think. It’s designed for normal to dry skin and has a lovely texture that is non-greasy. It is a little less hydrating than Supreme Screen but it’s great in summer or winter. I took it with me to Japan and it performed beautifully in the cold, snowy conditions. I will definitely repurchase it. It’s available at Priceline stores in Australia.
Elixseri Rescue Diver Serum
I was really fortunate to be sent the Elixseri Rescue Diver Serum to try out and do a giveaway with as well. It’s a Swiss-made and designed product and promises multi-level hydration and cell plumping. I definitely experienced a new level of glow and plumping goodness and overall I had a really positive experience with the product. I do have so, so many more products I want to try in the “hydrating” realm so it will probably be a while until I re-purchase this one purely because I am an inquisitive and fickle beauty blogger.
Drunk Elephant Protini
The illusive Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream is not available in Australia so I had a friend bring some back from her trip to the states earlier this year. It was really, truly a lovely product to use but I can’t see myself repurchasing it because it is so difficult to get a hold of. I have a few other creams that I think stand up to its calibre such as the Ausceuticals Peptide Moisturiser or the Hop and Cotton Makeover Moisturiser.
Hop and Cotton Customised Makeover Moisturiser
Hop and Cotton very generously gifted me a set of customised skincare and one of my favourites from the set was the customised Makeover moisturiser. I love the texture of it, it’s light but moisturising and perfect for day or night use. I will be repurchasing this one once I use up all of my moisturisers, which at this rate could take a year, even so it is up there on my list of favourite face creams.
