I have a confession to make. I am terrible at applying powder eyeshadow but I thought for the good of the people, and because you have requested it, I need to test some more eyeshadows. Enter the lovely Jana of Small Bits of Loveliness who was showing the latest Beauty Heroes makeup discovery box from Fitglow Beauty on her Instagram stories. I loved how the products looked on her and since I hadn’t tried anything from the brand before, I headed over to Beauty Heroes and sealed the deal.
The Beauty Heroes Limited Edition Colour Discovery Fitglow Box includes the Day Eye & Cheek Palette and the Lip Colour Serum in the shade Nudie. There is also an option to get the Night version but I liked the look of the daytime and thought I would get more wear out of it. The palette includes a cheek colour and five warm eyeshadow shades. Individually the Day Eye & Cheek Palette is AUD$103.00 and the Lip Colour Serum is AUD$62.00, both from from I Am Natural Store. The Beauty Heroes box however is AUD$108.00 including shipping, which means a saving of AUD$57.00.
The palette is housed in slimline cardboard packaging which, I must be honest, I was a little disappointed with. I realise that it’s more environmentally friendly to use cardboard packaging, but for a palette at that price I would expect a little bit more luxury. On the upside it does make it a handy size for travelling but I would worry about more damage occurring in transit. As you can see, the blush came damaged, which is not a big deal to me, but it’s something that also happened to Jana’s.
Packaging aside, the product itself is gorgeous. The eyeshadows are pigmented, creamy, easy to apply with a brush and they blend beautifully using my Charlotte Tilbury Eye Blender Brush. Sometimes use all of the shades and other times just 1 or 2, depending on how much time I have in the morning!) Out of the 5 shades, Coconut Cream is one I would use the least and perhaps focus it only on the inner corners of my eyes. I appreciate that the shades are mostly matte so the finish is quite natural and easy to wear on the day to day. The blush is a lovely natural pink colour that just gives a little bit of flush on the cheeks. It is not too pigmented so it allows some control on application which heavy handed me also appreciates.
The Lip Colour Serum comes in weighty glass packaging with a silver lid and the applicator is the classic doe foot which makes application easy peasy. It offers opaque pigmentation and a very creamy texture that truly feels like a nourishing lip serum. I love the way that the formula glides on the lips and makes them look and feel hydrated and plump. The finish is creamy with a natural sheen but even so it stays put for a good length of time and I can get 2 – 3 hours of wear out of it if I’m not eating.
Fitglow Beauty really focus on the ingredients in their products, and see makeup as an extension of the skincare routine. I am totally on board with that and love the idea of makeup with skincare benefits. The palette contains jojoba, cloudberry and sunflower seed oil plus plant collagen boost which claims to help to stimulate collagen production. Similarly, the lip colour serum contains shea butter, coconut oil, castor oil, vegetable collagen, beetroot, turmeric and Vitamin E (amongst others). This brand should be approached with a skincare mentality because it can offer so much more than just colour. Out of the palette and lip colour serum, I think I favour the lip colour serum. I’ve always been a lip product gal and I just loved the finish of it and the hydrating and plumping properties.
I will soon be reviewing their foundation and concealer so keep an eye out for those. If you’ve tried anything from Fitglow Beauty please let me know in the comments below or email me and connect with me on Instagram. To listen to the latest Fluke podcast, please visit iTunes.
