It’s summer in the southern hemisphere so it’s time to switch up my makeup. It gets really, really hot where I live so I need to make sure that I am clever with the number of layers I put on. Summer is all about the bronze, sun kissed look for me and I have curated a cool little line up that will see me through the hotter months.
First up, my summer base of choice is the Madara Hyaluronic Anti Pollution City CC Cream in the shade Light Beige. With an awesome coverage, this CC cream is lightweight and makes my skin all plump & juicy. It hydrates thanks to the hyaluronic acid, corrects dullness and evens out my skin tone. It’s very easy to apply and blend so you can slap it on and run out the door in a flash. I love how it makes my skin glow and the fact that it has an added bonus of SPF 15. A travel friendly squeezy tube tops it off for me.
Summer also means more socialising and maybe a little bit more of staying up late so to save the day I have the Absolution Le Multi Correcteur up my sleeve. The number 10 version of this corrector is a peachy hue which is very good at hiding blue under eye bags. I apply this very pigmented and creamy product by dabbing it under my eyes, follow up with a light weight concealer and I look as fresh as a daisy.
My favourite product in this lineup is the new Kosås Cosmetics limited edition Colour & Light Palette in Helios. This is a blush and highlight duo that is quite different to their other more subdued tones. It is more adventurous and fiery, featuring a creamy burnt orange blush and a glistening golden highlight. This is the perfect summertime evening look that gives your skin a hint of a sunset glow.
To add some colour to the rest of my face that won’t compete with the Helios, I dust on some It’s All Fluff Bronzing Powder. This Melbourne brand has created the most perfect tan shade that is blendable, shimmer free and packaged in a very cool silver cloud shaped compact. It’s impossible to go overboard with it which is great for me because I can be a little bit heavy handed with a brush. I like to also dust it onto my eyelids because I’m lazy like that.
When I saw Hannah English using the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows on Instagram I was sold. I ordered the shade Perfect Brow which, admittedly, is a little bit too dark for me but I still love the effect. The fine brush separates and coats the brow hairs but it doesn’t make them look filled in. I like this feathery, natural look and I find this product so easy to use. It doesn’t give the same 3D effect as the Glossier Boy Brow but for a quick, natural brow it is lovely.
To finish off the eyes I have been enjoying the Lash Food Conditioning Drama Mascara which was a gift from one of my favourite local beauty shops, Cult Cosmetica. I wouldn’t say it’s very dramatic, I find it more on the natural, lengthening and separating side of the spectrum. I love that it doesn’t smudge or flake and that with every wear it’s conditioning my lashes. It’s a win-win.
Last but not least we have the partner to the Helios palette and that is the beautiful, warm red hue of the Kosås Cosmetics Phoenix lipstick. This lipstick is by far my favourite of their reds and one that I think suits me the best. As with all of the Kosås lipsticks it’s very hydrating, long lasting and has a velvet matte finish. What more can I say? Check out my swatch below.
