H Is For Love has been on my radar for a long time so you can only imagine my excitement when I found an Australian stockist, located in my home town of all places. Eve Organics stocks the full range of H Is For Love which includes a neat collection of facial and body products. They are made in small batches by Bee Simonds who always shares lovely behind the scenes imagery of her products being made, especially on Instagram stories. It’s pretty cool watching something in production and then experiencing it miles away from the USA. I picked up the Kinu Glowing Skin Balm and Propolis Regenerative Face Mask which I will tell you about in this post.
I’m a big fan of powder masks as I enjoy the tactile experience of mixing them and seeing them come to life. Propolis is no exception and it’s one of those great masks that provides instant results. I’ve always had great outcomes with clay so I was excited to see French Green Clay and Kaolin Clay topping the ingredient list. A delicious addition of Raw Cacao, Vanilla Bean, Sweet Cinnamon and Clove star alongside a lesser known ingredient of White Turmeric. This ingredient, also known as Poolan Kilangu, is said brighten and stimulate the skin. It creates a little tingle in order to encourage blood flow and boost collagen production.
I like to mix Propolis either in a bowl or in the palm of my hand if I’m in a hurry. One of my favourite things about powder masks is that you can control the thickness by adding less or more water. I like to create a paste and then I add water as I need to or refresh the mask while it’s on my face by using a mist. I apply it all over, avoiding sensitive areas like the eyes, and I leave it on for 5 – 10 minutes or until it has almost dried. I instantly feel a pleasant tingling sensation, nothing crazy, just enough to feel like it’s doing its thing. To remove it I splash my face with water and then wash the mask away whilst using some of the remaining powder granules to exfoliate my face.
The instant results I see with Propolis is what keeps me coming back to it. It’s reliable and I know that it will just fix whatever is bothering my skin, making it look bright and glowing. I reach for it weekly, as a reset button for my face and a way to prep it for the week ahead. I really can’t fault it and I think it will be a fabulous go to especially in summer when my skin really needs decongesting. If you enjoy playing mixologist you can also blend it with a mist of your choice, yoghurt, avocado and even honey. Get experimenting and enjoy!
