You might remember Kjaer Weis and her gorgeous packaging from my review of her Blush and Mascara. It certainly stands out from the crowd and evokes a real eco luxe vibe, as well as being refillable, natural, organic, cruelty free and environmentally friendly. The new release from the brand brings us four cream eye shadows in universally flattering shades. There’s Enticing which is a deep blue, a deep green named Sublime and two neutral shades Gorgeous and Alluring which I will tell you more about below. I naturally selected the two safe options just to test out the formula to see if I liked it.
The formula is 95% organic and contains coconut oil, an array of different waxes, and oils from castor seed and sunflower seed. Topped off with the extract of Camellia sinensis leaf, it’s hard to believe that this botanical line up can produce such a high performance product. Upon first swatch I knew I would like the texture as it didn’t feel as slippery or creamy as some other natural cream eye shadows that I have tested. It feels drier and waxier so I had high hopes for their colour pay off and longevity.
Gorgeous is a medium taupe shade with a very slight hint of shimmer that is sophisticated and never glittery. It’s one of those shades that will look good on everyone and seems to instantly make my blue eyes pop. I love just wearing it on its own or teaming it up with the Rituel de Fille eyeshadows for a bit of extra somethin’ somethin’. It really is so versatile and the one I recommend that you try first if you’re considering this product. Alluring is a beautiful golden hue, with a greater number of shimmer particles than that of Gorgeous but never fear, it still has the classy vibe you would expect of Kjaer Weis. Both of the shades also look great mixed together or worn as eyeliner.
To apply the product to my lid I use my middle finger and then my ring finger to blend out the edges. Despite being a drier formula, it still has enough slip to blend easily but not pull on your eyelid. This also means that it lasts a heck of a lot longer than your average natural cream eyeshadow on the eyes before creasing. It doesn’t last all day by any means but it also doesn’t just disappear into nothingness like the rms beauty Eye Polishes. I also think that it’s much more buildable and has greater colour payoff than other products in this category and whilst I do love the Rituel de Fille Ash & Ember Eye Soot formula, Kjaer Weis comes out on top because it’s more wearable on a day to day basis.
I purchased these from Content Beauty in the UK which has free shipping to Australia. They will become available at Australian retailers soon, so keep an eye on my Instagram page to be notified. As always with Kjaer Weis, it is a refillable system so once you buy the compact you can keep refilling it. If you’re not keen on spending the money on the compact you can just buy the refill pans and pop them into an empty magnetic palette.
I hope you enjoyed my review of this new comer that I think will definitely win a lot of fans. I’m so keen to try the blue and green shades as well!
