Happy New Year and I hope you had a wonderful time celebrating the arrival of 2018! Today I’d like to share with you my favourite products from the past 12 months, some which will be of no surprise to you if you have been reading my blog for a while or following me on Instagram. I hope that you enjoy this round up of skincare, makeup, body and haircare favourites listed in no particular order!
Recently I reviewed the Concordia Handcrafted Skincare Purifying Cream Cleanser* which takes out top spot in the cleansing category. The beautiful texture and gentle purifying action has been a godsend for my skin.
Sodashi has long been a favourite brand of mine and their Enzyme Face Polish is my exfoliator of the year. I use it twice a week and it keeps my skin smooth and clear.
Skin Juice as a brand has really impressed me this year, especially with their Bio Juice toner. It feels like a plumping, quenching drink for your skin and it’s a very unique product in terms of texture and performance.
Selecting a mask favourite was really hard but I couldn’t go past the At One Skincare Pure Radiance Clay Mask*. It has the most instant results out of any mask that I own and I know that I can rely on it for a skin reset. Check out the full review here.
5. Facial Oil
The facial oil that I have seen the most visible results with has been the Indagare Illumino Youth Serum* which contains prickly pear seed oil. It has added a glow and brightness to my skin that so far has been unmatched by any other oil.
I have toned down the amount of actives that I use on my skin but the Zelens Power A High Potency Vitamin A Treatment Drops is still in my tool kit. It’s true to its name, an effective retinol treatment that is gentle but keeps the skin refined and smooth.
7. Day Cream
I usually don’t make a big fuss about day creams but the Ausceuticals Peptide Moisturiser has overtaken all others this year. Packed full of anti ageing and hydrating ingredients, this light weight moisturiser is perfect for all skin types.
One of the most important products that anyone should own is a good facial sunscreen and this year the category winner for me is the Suntegrity Moisturising Face Sunscreen and Primer. It feels like a rich moisturiser and makes my skin glow underneath make up. Check out the full review here.
9. Lip Balm
The final product in the skincare category is the Rohr Remedy Gumbi Gumbi Lip Balm which has not left my handbag since I purchased it. I love the texture, it’s not too thin and not too thick. Check out the full review here.
1. BB Cream
I have tested about 7 different BB and CC creams and in my drawer of base products my hand always seems to gravitate towards the Lily Lolo BB Cream. The texture is just right and the coverage is a little bit more than your average BB Cream. I pair it with the Suntegrity sunscreen for an epic glow.
My favourite foundation of 2017 will come as no surprise to you. It’s the 14e cosmetics Aloe Nourish Foundation of course. This foundation has such a great finish, texture and skin loving ingredients. No wonder I have almost used it up! Check out the full review here.
Local Perth brand tmf take out top spot for concealer of the year with the Vegan Dream Conceal Full Coverage* concealer. Don’t let the name fool you, it can be built up to full coverage but it also looks great applied lightly thanks to its creamy texture.
For me to have a powder on my list of makeup favourites is a big deal. I never considered myself much of a powder gal as my skin can get a little bit dehydrated and it usually looks drying on me. That’s not the case with the tmf Flawless Mineral Foundation*. I use it to set my makeup rather than do a full coverage face and it is exactly that – flawless.
5. Blush and Highlight
I have made a significant dent in Kosås Colour + Light cream blush and highlight duo Tropic Equinox. It gives a lovely sun kissed, natural glow to the cheeks without being over the top. Check out the full review here.
6. Brow Product
If I had to choose just one brow product that I can’t live without it’s the Glossier Boy Brow. All the rumours are true, it is truly amazing at amplifying your brows and giving them a bushy texture. Check out the full review here.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find a natural cream shadow formula that I liked this year but I have been loving the Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes in shades E105 and E107. It applies and blends easily and stays put all day.
I haven’t been too happy with a natural mascara until I tried the Ere Perez Natural Almond Oil Mascara* is smudge-proof and doesn’t leave marks on my hooded eye lids like most other natural mascaras do. Check out the full review here.
Hair and Body
1. Body Scrub
For a very scrubby scrub I can’t look past the Eco Tan Pink Himalayan Salt Scrub. I think this is my 4th tube now and I love that it’s packaged this way and not in a pot. It gives me smooth skin and keeps my keratosis pilaris in check.
The Acure Mint & Ecinachea Intense Volume Shampoo has been a surprising favourite this year. I am happy to report that this one has given my hair serious volume. Love it, it’s affordable and easy to find.
3. Hair Styling
Mr Smith The Foundation has been my favourite styling product that I have tried this year. It doesn’t weight my hair down and it gives it volume, a flexible hold and takes away the fluffy look of freshly washed hair.
4. Body Oil
I have a few body oils on the go but my favourite in 2017 was the Clean Slate Body Oil*. It comes in a spray, not a pump, which means it’s quick and easy to apply. The oil smells fresh and citrusy and it is very nourishing without leaving a greasy residue.
5. Body Lotion
My body lotion of choice this year has been the Onne Beauty Balancing Body Balm*. Similarly to the aforementioned oil, this lotion absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave you greasy. It is really moisturising and perfect for healing sunburn and sensitive skin ailments. Check out the full review here.
6. Tinted Body Lotion
Prtty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion is what I have been reaching for to make my skin truly glow. The pigments are so fine (not glittery) and the moisturising formula leaves you with soft, supple skin. Check out the full review here.
7. Hand Cream
Weleda Skin Food is possibly my all time favourite hand cream. It can be used all over the body, it’s super greasy, thick and hydrating which makes it perfect to put on before bed. Sometimes I use it on my face if I need an extra boost.
My top deodorant discovery in 2017 was the Erica Brooke Him & Her Double Strength Deodorant Creme. It’s a natural deodorant that works hard, but lets your body do it’s thing and sweat like it’s meant to. Check out the full review and comparison with other deodorant creams here.
9. Multipurpose Balm
BYBI Beauty Babe Balm has been living on my bed side table all year. I use it on my whole body and now that it’s in a tube it’s really good to pop in my handbag for on the go hydration. Check out the full review here.
